Trying to keep some kind of faith here but very difficult and Brentford are absolutely no pushover a very muted COYI

Watched them yesterday versus Spuds. Strong, fast , press well and high and have a real power house in Toney upfront.
A home defeat very likely

Paqueta, Rice and Downes as a midfield 3.
Areola for Fabianski.
The rest remains the same unless Aguerd is fit.

Convinced that Ogbonna needs to come back for this one. Even if he can only manage 70 mins. He's a solid, experienced, professional player.
Areola
Coufal Dawson Ogbonna Cresswell
Rice properly as a DM
Paqueta Downes
Lanzini as he holds the ball
Bowen allowed to drift right side Antonio allowed to drift left side

Agree Feet but also Antonio needs to be dropped as does Coufal and Cresswell. Aguerd will replace Kehrer hopefully. Fab needs dropping too.
Kehrer looks better suited to midfield. Got pace, can tackle and pass accurately. His weakness is defending. Same as Emerson. You can see why both were wing backs at previous clubs.
I would prefer Bowen and Benny up top but it relies on passing and moving well in midfield so as u say Rice, Paqueta, Downes and Fornals.
Won’t happen though. Same starting 11 as Arsenal with possibly Kehrer replaced by Aguerd and scapegoat Benny replaced by Fornals wide left

You can't have Lanzini in for Benrahma, he is the one shining light this season.

It's a tough call but we have to get some ball retention and movement off the ball going. Lanzini does both and I feel keeps us in the match until a point where changes can be made. That's how I'd start the match and Benny can always be introduced. I'd also be using Emerson as a left wing dribbling and crossing option far more than we're currently seeing. He won't ever be suitable as a left back and that allows Benny some freedom to play across the line.
But then again I'm also not afraid of making 2 subs before the 30 min mark and switching things around, like a decent manager can do, especially one that reads the game unfolding in front of him.
Unfortunately we don't have one of those.

Hel change absolutely nothing. Brentford's wide players against our hopeless full backs is a mismatch. West ham 0 Brentford 3 and Moyes will be sacked straight afterwards.

What happened last season against them will happen again this season, NOTHING has changed. What may change is the severity of the defeat…..of course I so want it to be a win but even then it would likely be with a massive amount of good fortune…..

Sit back against the mighty Brentford and just hope Toney has a bad game.
We might just scrape a point.
Moyes hangs onto his job that bit longer.

Chill out boys!
Still loads of points-dropping games to play before our endeared and revered leaders realise that their beloved PL status is in jeopardy.
Get used to the food at the bottom of the pond.

Morning Charley Morning all
I am more worried about Brentford than Arsenal...
I would like to see Coufal and Fabianski dropped. Kehrer must not be a CB. Ball must be passed to Rice or Paqueta (or Fornals / Lanzini if on) to build attacks, no booting it up the field. Bowen up front, but Antonio can still play, just not up front on his own.

Easy win for Brentford this one We have no cohesion in the team, look all at sea and Brentford are no mugs at all. Moyes has lost the plot and it will be the same usual team and tactics with the dithering jock hoping for something to change.

IMO Downes has to play alongside Rice and Paqueta. Fornals or Lanzini but I would go for the former for his added work rate and a bit more physical than little old Lanzini. Could change 1 for the other during the game as both seem to run out of steam or can’t get into it over 90 mins. Kehrer in midfield another option. He can pass, is relatively quick. Same for Downes and we are crying out for pace, mobility and accurate passers in midfield to play out from tge back.
Alas it will never be tried and the launch to the isolated man upfront or just giving it back will continue.
Moyes would have changed it by now if he could see.

Didn't see the Arsenal game but read that Moyes blamed Benrahma for their first because Moyes said Benrahma didn't put enough pace on his pass to Rice causing Rice to lose possession. Is that correct, or is Moyes covering for Rice?

Our full backs always seem to get a pasting on here, but I'm not sure any of the goals yesterday were their fault.
Fab has to go and I have changed my mind about Kehrer. I said right at the beginning that he was a decent player with an unfortunate habit of making one massive ricket per game. Now I accept that he is just utter shit.
